Trump announced his intention to reduce the number of U.S. troops in Germany
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Washington is considering reducing the number of U.S. troops in Germany, and a final decision could be made in the near future.
The White House chief made this statement on his social media account.
Trump wrote that the U.S. is “studying and reviewing” a possible reduction of troops in Germany. He did not provide any details regarding the scale of the potential reduction or the timeline.
This is not the first signal from the Trump administration regarding a review of the U.S. military presence in Europe. Washington has repeatedly accused its NATO allies of insufficient defense spending.
The phone call between Trump and Putin was preceded by a meeting between the U.S. president and King Charles III of the United Kingdom. According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling, in the opening minutes of the conversation, Trump told the monarch that Vladimir Putin “wants war.”
The American leader also reportedly mentioned the Russian dictator’s plans to “destroy the population,” without specifying which population he was referring to.
As a reminder, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin informed U.S. President Donald Trump of his readiness to declare a temporary ceasefire for the period of the so-called “Victory Day.”
