Trump said the U.S. had unsuccessfully attempted to supply weapons to protesters in Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States had attempted to supply weapons to Iranian protesters to help them fight against the regime, but the weapons never reached their intended recipients.

This was reported by NBC News.

“They don’t have any weapons,” Trump said of the Iranian people, claiming that civilians are not currently protesting against the regime out of fear of being killed.

According to him, the U.S. sent a certain amount of weapons to the Iranian people to fight the regime, but the intended recipients did not receive them because “a certain group of people” kept the weapons for themselves.

“We sent weapons, a lot of weapons. They were supposed to go to the people so they could fight these thugs. Do you know what happened? The people it was sent to kept it, saying, ‘What nice weapons, we’ll keep them for ourselves.’ So I’m very upset with a certain group of people, and they’ll pay a heavy price for this,” he added.

The Trump administration had previously stated that the goal of the war was not regime change, though Trump himself claimed that regime change in the country had already taken place, as its leadership had been largely destroyed.

Today, the White House chief said that the current Iranian regime—"the third group of people we are dealing with—is not as radicalized, and we believe they are actually much smarter."

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is seriously considering the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO. According to him, this is due to the fact that the Alliance did not join the U.S. operation against Iran.

The UK has responded to US President Donald Trump’s statement about the country’s possible withdrawal from NATO. Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized his commitment to the Alliance and assured that he would not allow the country to be dragged into war.
