Trump called on U.S. allies to take control of the Strait of Hormuz

Trump called on U.S. allies to take control of the Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the responsibility for restoring control over the Strait of Hormuz should fall on Washington’s allies. According to him, the United States’ partners must show resolve and take the lead in an operation in this strategically important region.

CNN reports on this.

“Go to the strait and just take it, secure it, use it for yourselves,” he emphasized during his speech. “The hard part has already been done, so it should be easy.”

According to CNN, such statements may indicate Trump’s intention to end the war in Iran without directly regaining control of the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, the Iranian regime effectively blocked this waterway for several weeks, triggering a global energy crisis and a sharp rise in oil and gas prices.

Despite the rise in energy prices, Trump downplayed the significance of the situation for the U.S., noting that the country does not depend on the use of the strait.

At the same time, the American leader expressed confidence that shipping would resume naturally once hostilities ended. This comes amid statements from Iran that it is prepared to continue fully blocking the route, through which about 20% of the world’s oil is transported.

Although Trump called regaining control of the strait “easy,” even the U.S. military is currently in no hurry to escort oil tankers through the region due to risks associated with the Iranian threat.

“The countries of the world that receive oil through the Strait of Hormuz must take care of it,” Trump said.

“They must value it,” he added.

U.S. President Donald Trump also stated that Washington will no longer support countries that cannot independently secure access to energy resources due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

As a reminder, Iran called Ukraine an accomplice to U.S. and Israeli aggression at the UN.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reported that the Iranian regime had made two attempts to assassinate U.S. President Donald Trump.
