Trump urged Hungarians to vote for Orbán in the parliamentary elections
Two days before the parliamentary elections in Hungary, U.S. President Donald Trump publicly expressed his support for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and urged citizens to vote for him.
He wrote about this on the social media platform Truth Social.
Trump stated that Orbán is “a truly strong and influential leader with a proven track record of achieving phenomenal results.”
“He fights tirelessly for his great country and people and loves them dearly, just as I do for the United States of America,” the U.S. president noted.
According to Trump, the Hungarian prime minister “is doing everything in his power” to protect his country’s interests. He also emphasized that relations between the U.S. and Hungary “have reached new heights of cooperation” during his presidency.
“I look forward to continuing our close cooperation so that both of our countries can continue on this wonderful path toward success and cooperation,” Trump wrote.
He noted that he had previously supported Orbán in the 2022 election and “is honored to do so again.”
“Go out and vote for Viktor Orbán. He is a true friend, a fighter, and a winner, and has my full and unconditional support for his re-election as Prime Minister of Hungary,” Trump added.
As a reminder, for the first time in many years, the opposition in Hungary has a real chance of ousting incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his Fidesz party from power.
The Kremlin has begun to speculate that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán may lose the parliamentary elections, despite support from Russia.
