One-third of Americans believe the third attempt on Trump's life was a hoax — Fox News
Nearly a third of American voters believe that the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a dinner in Washington was nothing more than a staged event.
These findings were revealed by the results of a new national poll conducted by Fox News.
Despite the presence of a suspect and official charges, the public seriously doubts the authenticity of this attack.
The incident, which occurred on April 25, marks the third recent attempt on the politician’s life.
Thirty percent of those surveyed say the shooting was staged.
At the same time, 13% of voters are absolutely certain that the events in Washington were staged. Only 52% of respondents believe the attack was real, while one in five Americans could not decide on a definitive answer.
That’s 18% of people who are currently torn between the established facts and popular conspiracy theories.
The poll revealed a deep political divide in perceptions of the attempt on the president’s life. Nearly half of Democrats—49%—believe the shooting was staged.
Exactly the same opinion is shared by 48% of Kamala Harris’s supporters. In contrast, about 79% of Republican Party supporters are convinced of the reality of the assassination attempt.
Among active supporters of the MAGA movement, this figure reaches a record 87%, and only 10% of Trump’s fellow party members believe in the conspiracy theory.
Independent voters are split almost evenly: 41% believe the event was real, while 34% believe it was staged.
Additionally, analysts noted a significant influence of age and gender on the level of trust in official information.
Voters under 35 are twice as likely as retirees to disbelieve the official accounts. Among young Americans, 38% believe the attack was a hoax, while 65% of the older generation, aged 65 and older, trust the facts.
Skepticism also has a clear gender dimension, as women are significantly more likely than men to call the event a hoax—35% versus 25%.
