Turkey is negotiating the withdrawal of 11 vessels from the Strait of Hormuz

There are currently 14 vessels owned by Turkish companies in the Strait of Hormuz. Turkish authorities are negotiating the withdrawal of 11 of them from the area.

This was reported by Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, according to the DHA news agency.

“The issues in the Strait of Hormuz continue. In coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we are trying to determine whether we can remove them (the ships – ed.) from there. There are 14 ships owned by Turkish owners there. We are in contact with their crews,” Uraloğlu said.

According to the minister, efforts are currently underway to evacuate 11 of the 14 vessels, as the other 3 have not requested to leave.

“They are there to carry out specific operations—in particular, these are our energy production vessels. Negotiations are ongoing regarding the evacuation of the others. At this time, there is no possibility of evacuation,” Uraloğlu noted.

The Turkish minister emphasized that constant communication is maintained with the ships’ crews and there are no humanitarian issues.

Turkey warned of the threat of escalation following the attack on the tanker ALTURA in the Black Sea.

As a reminder, the attack on the sanctioned tanker carrying Russian oil in the Black Sea was deliberate.

Turkey may also force Putin to the negotiating table.
