Turkey is ready to facilitate talks between Ukraine and Russia
On June 16, Turkey confirmed its readiness to serve as a venue for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia aimed at resolving the war. The foreign ministers of Turkey and Russia discussed the possible format of peace talks, particularly in the context of the Ukrainian conflict and bilateral relations.
According to a Turkish diplomat, the country intends to use all its diplomatic resources to bring an end to hostilities as soon as possible.
Ankara proposes organizing direct contacts between the parties on its territory, as was already done at the start of the full-scale invasion.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also stressed that prolonging the war poses serious security and economic risks for the entire Black Sea region.
“This destabilization, this escalation, could lead to the war spreading further, so we must do everything possible to bring it to an end,” the Turkish foreign minister stressed.
