A Turkish fishing vessel was attacked off the Black Sea; there is one fatality and several injuries

The Turkish-flagged fishing vessel Duru 67 sank after an "attack" off the northern coast of the Black Sea. The incident resulted in one death and several injured sailors.

According to the Turkish Coast Guard, the Duru 67 was attacked on June 5 west of Sevastopol, which is temporarily occupied by Russia.

Official sources have not specified the nature of the attack or who carried it out.

As a result of the incident, the vessel sank.

Five injured sailors were rescued by another trawler, the Burak Kaya. One of the victims died while being transported to Turkey.

Subsequently, a coast guard vessel with a medical team intercepted the trawler approximately 213 km north of the port of İnebolu. The victims were evacuated on board and transported to a hospital in Kastamonu Province after a voyage of about 15 hours.

Fevzi Yavuzilmaz, director of the provincial health department, reported that all the injured had suffered shrapnel wounds.

“Two of our patients have relatively minor injuries, while two have slightly more serious ones,” he noted.

The Turkish side has not released additional details regarding the origin of the attack and has not identified those responsible for the incident.

This was reported on Friday, June 5, by the Turkish Coast Guard

On the night of June 5, in the Taganrog Gulf area of the Azov Sea, drones attacked two cargo ships—the motor vessels “Natra” and “Zircon.”

Earlier in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey, unidentified drones attacked three tankers at once, which, according to Ukrainian intelligence, may belong to the Russian “shadow fleet.” The strikes occurred in different areas; the ships sustained damage, but the crews remained unharmed. The incident immediately prompted a response from maritime authorities and raised a new wave of questions about the safety of navigation in the region.
