South Korean tourist converts to Islam in Turkey’s Mardin — Anadolu Agency
A tourist from South Korea converted to Islam during a visit to the city of Mardin in southeastern Turkey. This was reported by Anadolu Agency, citing the Artuklu District Mufti’s Office.
Ceremony at the mufti’s office
According to the office, the visitor, identified as Shaevn, decided to convert to Islam while staying in Mardin. An official conversion ceremony was subsequently held at the mufti’s office.
The ceremony was led by Artuklu District Mufti Suleyman Baran. During it, Shaevn recited the shahada — the Islamic declaration of faith — and officially became a Muslim.

New name
After converting, Shaevn chose the name Abdullah, the mufti’s office said. At the end of the ceremony, Suleyman Baran presented him with a copy of the Quran.
