Tusk on the split in PiS: “I won’t cry”
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk commented on the split within the country’s largest opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS), stating that he would not “mourn” the political force. This was reported by “European Truth,” citing TVN 24.
During a press conference in Hlukholazy, where a new bridge was opened to replace the one destroyed by massive flooding in September 2024, Tusk was asked to assess the situation within PiS. “I won’t shed any tears for PiS. But, of course, there’s no reason to rejoice when we see what’s happening to the most important, largest opposition party, because we’d all like politics to look a little different,” said the head of the Polish government.
According to Tusk, over the past few hours he has heard claims from some PiS politicians that former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is Tusk’s agent, as well as a German agent. The Polish prime minister noted that he did not expect such a turn of events.

Tusk added that the situation could be dismissed as a dark joke, but in his view, this is not the first instance of significant political chaos and disorder. He also stated that politicians who cause constant conflict and turmoil are dangerous.
On July 24, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński announced that more than 30 members would be leaving the party. Among them is Mateusz Morawiecki, around whom a group of “exiled” lawmakers has formed. This was the result of a several-month-long internal party crisis.
