The Russian X-101 missile that crashed in Poland was manufactured in 2026
In Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship, fragments of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile were discovered; according to the prosecutor’s office, it was manufactured in the second quarter of 2026 at a facility in the Moscow Region of the Russian Federation. The missile fell during Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine.
Marcin Kozak, a spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin, announced this during a media briefing on Friday.
“Preliminary examination of the site and the traces found—that is, the fragments of the aerial object—allow us to unequivocally confirm what type of object we are dealing with. It is an X-101 missile, manufactured in the second quarter of 2026 at one of the plants in the Moscow region,” Kozak said.
He also noted that a Ukrainian expert arrived in Poland on Thursday evening to assist in identifying the object, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
As a reminder, on the night of July 30, Russian troops carried out one of the largest combined attacks on Ukraine, using more than 70 missiles and over 280 attack drones. Kyiv and the surrounding region, as well as the Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, came under fire.
In Poland, during the massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine on the night of July 30, an air raid alert was issued in part of the Lublin Voivodeship. After the alert ended, a crater about 10 meters in diameter and debris from an unidentified object were discovered in a field near the villages of Tarnava-Kolonia and Tokary.
