Tusk called on the Polish president to break his silence following the attack on Ukrainians
Following a brutal attack on a Ukrainian couple in Wrocław, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the rise in violence in the country is linked to a sense of political support among radical groups. He also called on President Karol Nawrocki to publicly address the situation.
During a cabinet meeting, the Polish prime minister emphasized that the authorities must respond firmly to acts of violence.
“We must wage a resolute fight against this violence, because thugs, hooligans, and this culture of violence are becoming increasingly brazen and insolent—and also because they have received political support. It is no coincidence that the man who beat up a Ukrainian woman boasted that he was a defender of the borders,” Donald Tusk stated.
The prime minister addressed Karol Nawrocki directly, asking him to break his silence on this case and draw attention to the activities of radical groups.
Tusk also expressed hope that law enforcement agencies would promptly identify all those responsible and ensure they are punished.
The head of the Polish government recalled the historic role of the independent trade union “Solidarity,” thanks to which, he said, Poland gained special prestige in the world.
“This legacy is now being destroyed by thugs, hooligans, and common criminals who beat and humiliate people simply because they speak with a slightly different accent,” the prime minister emphasized.
He stressed that attacks on Ukrainian citizens run counter to Poland’s own interests and called on the public not to remain indifferent to such crimes.
“Do not be indifferent. We know that indifference is the root of crime. It is the perfect breeding ground for hooligans, violent criminals, and evil to flourish. We must remember this,” concluded Donald Tusk.
