Outbreaks of rabies have been reported in 16 regions of Russia
Active outbreaks of rabies among animals have been detected in at least 16 regions of the Russian Federation.
The situation is currently most severe in the Tyumen region, where dozens of cases were recorded in the first months of the year.
In the Novosibirsk region, more than 70 cases of rabies have been registered since the beginning of 2026, most of which have led to the imposition of quarantine measures.
Outbreaks of the infection have also been detected in the Orenburg, Tver, Omsk, Tambov, Kemerovo, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, and Ryazan regions, as well as in Bashkortostan and the Altai Krai.
Quarantine restrictions are also in effect in the Moscow Region and the Yaroslavl Region.
Wild animals, particularly foxes, as well as domestic pets, remain the primary carriers of rabies.
Additionally, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced a temporary cessation of hostilities on the front lines, effective from 4:00 p.m. Moscow time on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, 2026.
Zelenskyy proposed an energy ceasefire brokered by the United States.
