The wife of opposition figure Statkevich has been detained in Belarus
Marina Adamovich, the wife of opposition politician and former political prisoner Mikola Statkevich, has been detained in Belarus.
Statkevich himself reported this.
“Today, my wife Marina Adamovich was detained near my home… One of them identified himself as investigator Kozlov. No further information is available yet,” he wrote.
According to the politician, security forces may have taken an interest in the Homo Homini award his wife received in Prague.
Mikalai Statkevich has been in the opposition since the 1990s and has repeatedly faced persecution by Alexander Lukashenko’s regime. In total, he has spent over 10 years in prison.
In 2020, he was detained again and sentenced to 14 years in prison. In 2025, during the release of political prisoners, he refused to leave the country and returned to Belarus, after which he was sent back to a penal colony.
Earlier, Ukrainian analysts used satellite imagery to document the active deployment of a military base at the former Krychev-6 airfield in Belarus. New footage suggests that the “Oreshnik” missile system may be stationed there, although the exact type of equipment cannot yet be determined due to the quality of the images.
Recall that Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and former president, published a video featuring the “Oreshnik” ballistic missile, threatening European countries planning to deploy their troops in Ukraine after a peace agreement is reached.
