A letter from Princess Diana's honeymoon is up for auction in Britain

A letter written by Princess Diana during her honeymoon with then-Prince Charles in 1981 is being auctioned in the UK. Along with the letter, archival photographs of the Princess of Wales and other memorabilia are also being sold.

This was reported by People magazine.

The letter is dated September 27, 1981. At the time, Diana was staying at Balmoral Castle in Scotland following the royal wedding. The letter was addressed to her friend Catherine Hanbury, with whom the princess had attended West Heath School.

In the letter, Diana shared her impressions of the honeymoon she spent with Charles on the royal yacht.

“We had a blissful honeymoon with endless sunshine and, thankfully, calm seas... now we’ll be in Scotland until the end of October, which is a great pleasure for us—I love being outdoors all day and hate London!” the princess wrote.

In the letter, Diana also spoke candidly about her new status and family life.

“It’s wonderful to be married—I think I can safely say that after two months,” she noted.

The letter drew particular attention due to the subsequent history of Diana and Charles’s relationship. Later, numerous rumors swirled around the royal family regarding Prince Charles’s affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, who is now the Queen Consort of the United Kingdom.

Photographs of Princess Diana from her school days and other memorable items were also put up for auction. They are expected to fetch between $5,000 and $8,000.

The auction itself is scheduled for July 7—a few weeks before the 45th anniversary of Charles and Diana’s wedding.

As a reminder, a handwritten letter from actress Jennifer Aniston to the late Matthew Perry will be put up for auction along with other personal items belonging to the “Friends” star.

In France, a fragment of the Eiffel Tower’s original staircase was sold at auction for 450,000 euros. It is part of the historic structure that once connected the floors of the legendary “Iron Lady.” The lot had been in a private collection for over 40 years and caused a real stir among collectors.
