In the Czech Republic, a politician has suspended his duties following a traffic accident in central Prague
Filip Turek, honorary leader of the Czech party “Motorists for Themselves,” has temporarily stepped down from his position as government commissioner following a traffic accident in central Prague. The accident involved an ambulance.
On Tuesday evening, Turek announced that, pending the investigation into the traffic accident involving the ambulance in which he was involved, he is suspending his duties as the government commissioner for the Green Deal.
“Until the police determine who is at fault, I will not work as a government representative—and I will act in accordance with the results of the investigation… If I am found at fault for the accident, I will resign from my post,” the politician announced on his social media accounts.
He also noted that the intersection where the accident occurred is “the most dangerous in Prague and the Czech Republic,” and that he had driven through the intersection on a green light, according to IDNES.
As a reminder, a Czech lawmaker was involved in a traffic accident with an ambulance in central Prague.
Earlier in Lviv, the driver of a Porsche crashed into a traffic light, causing the structure to fall onto the road. After the accident, the driver left the car and walked away from the scene. Law enforcement officials are working to identify him.
