A previously stolen saint's skull was recovered from concrete in the Czech Republic — Radio Prague

Czech experts have successfully extracted a unique skull from concrete, which is believed to have belonged to the canonized Saint Zdislava of Lemberk.

This was reported by Radio Prague International.

The valuable historical relic had previously been stolen by a criminal and encased in a strong construction mixture in an attempt to destroy evidence of the crime.

Thanks to the meticulous work of restorers and scientists, the artifact was completely freed from foreign materials without significant damage to the bone tissue.

This relic holds immense religious and cultural significance for the Czech people, which is why the incident caused a significant public outcry. The man had previously stolen the relic and encased it in concrete with the intention of burying it at the bottom of a river.

According to police, he managed to carry out only the first part of his plan, as law enforcement acted swiftly and prevented the final destruction of the relic.

The suspect was apprehended shortly after the crime, and the concrete-encased artifact was immediately sent to a specialized laboratory. Police conducted a large-scale investigation to determine the motives behind this bizarre and barbaric act.

The suspect is currently in custody, and forensic experts are determining whether he acted alone or was carrying out a specific order.

To extract the skull from its concrete prison, the best Czech anthropologists, archaeologists, and chemists were brought in, using high-precision tools.

The experts carefully selected mechanical and chemical cleaning methods to ensure the delicate bone did not crumble under pressure.

Law enforcement officials stated that the valuable relic is in satisfactory condition and will now be restored in the near future.

Law enforcement representatives expressed their sincere gratitude to the scientific community for saving this national treasure.

Officials confirmed that the worst fears regarding the complete destruction of the relics did not come true.

“Wonderful news! Experts have successfully retrieved the skull of Saint Zdislava from the concrete. Fortunately, the relic is well-preserved. It will now undergo further restoration to ensure its complete protection and preservation,” the police noted.
