A mysterious drone crashed in Turkey's Black Sea region
An unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in Turkey’s Black Sea region, followed by an explosion. Law enforcement and relevant agencies are currently investigating the drone’s origin and the circumstances of the incident.
Specialists are working at the crash site. No information has yet been received regarding casualties or the extent of the damage.
“The unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in the municipality of Vakfıkebir in the Açıkalani district (Trabzon province—ed.). It crashed into a tree and exploded. An initial technical inspection confirmed the presence of explosives on board,” the statement said.
According to Turkish media reports, there were approximately 5 kilograms of explosives inside the drone.
Following the incident, emergency services and specialists were dispatched to the scene and are continuing to survey the area. It is reported that, based on the results of a preliminary inspection, the drone allegedly belongs to Ukraine.
The incident caused a brief panic among residents of the surrounding area. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
