The Czech Foreign Ministry issued a sharp response to Lavrov following the attack on Kyiv

The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the massive Russian strike on Kyiv and criticized statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who called the attack “retaliation.” Prague stated that “the darkest place in hell is reserved” for those who plan, order, or justify attacks on civilians.

Following yet another massive Russian attack on Kyiv, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong statement. The ministry not only condemned the shelling of the Ukrainian capital but also sharply responded to remarks by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who attempted to justify the strikes. The Czech Foreign Ministry published a corresponding statement on social media platform X.

The ministry emphasized that dozens of civilians were killed and injured as a result of one of the largest Russian strikes far from the front lines. Despite this, the Russian side refers to such attacks as “retaliation.” The Czech Republic has cast doubt on this explanation and reminded everyone who started the war. “Retaliation for what, Mr. Lavrov? For the fact that you launched a military attack on a neighboring country, and it has ‘not consented to this’ for the fifth year in a row?” the statement reads.

The Czech Foreign Ministry also spoke out sharply against those who plan, order, or justify attacks on the civilian population. “The darkest place in hell is reserved for those who plan, order, and even justify such attacks,” the Czech Foreign Ministry stated.

The statement came after yet another massive combined Russian attack on Ukraine, during which Kyiv bore the brunt of the assault. The shelling destroyed residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure. Rescue workers continued to clear the rubble, and the number of dead and wounded rose throughout the day.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Czech Republic has remained one of Ukraine’s most active allies. Prague has repeatedly condemned Russian strikes on civilian cities, supports Ukraine’s defense, and calls on the international community to increase pressure on Russia. This is stated in a post by the ministry in H.

The Czech Republic has stated that it will continue to coordinate the initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine, which has become one of the key mechanisms for military aid. Prague also confirmed its readiness to participate in strengthening NATO’s eastern flank and to develop defense cooperation with its allies.
