Victims of the September 11 attacks honored at Republican convention in Dallas
In Dallas, United States, at the Republican Party convention on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, rescue workers and military personnel honored the memory of those killed. As Euronews reports, an honor guard held a mourning ceremony with a bell, during which those present at the American Airlines Center observed silence.

Thousands of participants gathered at the event to support Republican Party candidates in the upcoming midterm elections to Congress. Their outcome will determine the composition of Congress for the final two years of Donald Trump’s presidential term.
US President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance are due to visit the sites of the 2001 attacks on Friday. Trump is expected to deliver a speech at the Pentagon.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum has also scheduled a ceremony at the memorial plaza in Manhattan. Families of the victims are to read the names of 2,983 people who died in the September 11, 2001 attacks and the February 26, 1993 bombing at the World Trade Center.

For the first time, the museum will add a seventh moment of silence to honor people who died from health consequences linked to the September 11 attacks. Previously, six periods of silence were observed during the ceremony: at the times of the strikes on each tower, their collapse, the attack on the Pentagon, and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.
This week, Trump posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Welles Crowther, a 24-year-old trader and volunteer firefighter from New York who died while saving people in the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
In New York, on the eve of the anniversary, the light display “2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor” was also held: 2,977 drones recreated the silhouettes of the Twin Towers. The number of drones corresponded to the number of people killed on September 11.
