The European Parliament is considering lifting the immunity of the controversial Shoshoake

On March 24, the European Parliament began proceedings to lift the parliamentary immunity of Romanian MEP Diana Şoşoaţă.

This was reported by Digi24.

The request from Romania’s Prosecutor General served as the basis for the proceedings. Șoșoață has already been heard at a closed-door meeting of the European Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee.

The next step will be the preparation of the committee’s report, after which the matter will be put to a vote in the plenary chamber.

Despite the closed-door nature of the meeting, the politician streamed the proceedings on social media, where she spoke of “abuse” and political pressure.

Șoșoake also claims that she received offers of political asylum from several countries but declined them.

The lawmaker is known for her controversial statements and pro-Russian rhetoric.

Romania’s Central Election Bureau barred the controversial leader of the SOS party, Diana Shoshoake, from participating in the presidential election.

Recall that the controversial Romanian politician Kelin Georgescu lashed out at Romania after the Constitutional Court definitively barred him from running in the presidential election.
