The Financial Times assessed the prospects for Zelenskyy's talks with Trump

A meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump has a good chance of reviving negotiations to end the war and helping Ukraine secure additional military aid. The Financial Times reports this, citing sources in diplomatic circles.

According to the publication, the Ukrainian president aims to convince the White House leader of the U.S.’s interest in supporting Ukraine and to capitalize on the American leader’s desire to “be where success is.” Among Zelenskyy’s key goals are bringing Washington into the negotiation track with Russia, accelerating the delivery of Patriot missile systems, expanding joint weapons production, and increasing pressure on the Russian dictator.

A number of recent developments are fueling optimism on the Ukrainian side, including a shift in the stance of influential activist Laura Loomer, Trump’s positive comments on Ukraine’s strategy at the NATO summit in Ankara, and the memory of the support provided by Senator Lindsey Graham, who recently passed away.
