In France, thousands of people gathered for an unauthorized party at a military training ground

Despite an official ban, a large-scale unauthorized party is taking place on May 1 at a military training ground in France. Thousands of young people have gathered there.

BFMTV reported on the incident.

In the area around the city of Bourges in central France, tens of thousands of people began arriving at the military training ground for a rave party. Local authorities are sounding the alarm because there may be unexploded ordnance at the chosen location—not to mention that no one had granted permission for the event.

Despite a direct ban issued by the prefect, by morning there were already over 2,300 parked cars and about 8,000 people near the party site.

The organizers reported that they are expecting around 30,000 people. On their social media page, they stated that the event is a form of protest against a bill to increase penalties for illegal rave parties, which was already passed in its first reading in April.

The first party organized by this committee took place way back in 1993, and the events have been held regularly ever since. The venue is traditionally announced at the last minute.

The local prefect urges participants to at least refrain from lighting bonfires, digging, or picking up anything suspicious from the ground. At the same time, an order was issued for emergency services to be on high alert in case of an explosion or fire.
