An avalanche claimed the life of a skier in the French Pyrenees

A tragic incident occurred in the French Pyrenees mountain range, where a local resident was killed by a massive avalanche.

The natural disaster caught the man while he was skiing in the high mountains, leaving him no chance of survival.

According to official data from the local prosecutor’s office, the accident occurred on Saturday, April 4, in the Pyrenean commune of Val-de-Sos.

The victim was a 40-year-old man who, as it turned out later, lived in the same region near the city of Toulouse.

Specialized mountain rescue services immediately rushed to the scene after receiving the distress signal.

Despite the rapid deployment of the search operation and the swift arrival of help, medics could only confirm the death of the skier, who had sustained fatal injuries.

Rescuers note that the spring season in the mountains is often accompanied by an increased risk of avalanches due to temperature fluctuations and unstable snow cover.

Tourists and professional athletes are advised to strictly follow safety rules and avoid unprepared slopes.

Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident to determine the exact causes of the avalanche in this area.

The victim’s body was transported to the nearest medical center for necessary procedures and to be handed over to relatives.

As a reminder, a British skier competed while intoxicated at the World Cup.

Also in Germany, a skier died in an avalanche while climbing the Iseler.
