In Ghana, NDC aspirant calls for stronger youth mobilisation by 2028
In Ghana, Emmanuel Okay Minta, an aspirant for the position of national youth organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on candidates for constituency youth organiser positions to prepare responsibly for the party’s internal elections. He said these positions are important for mobilising party supporters locally and maintaining a strong youth base ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The role of youth organisers
As MyJoyOnline reports, Minta issued a statement to mark the opening of nominations for constituency elections. According to him, the position of constituency youth organiser is not merely an item on the ballot but a key element in sustaining the NDC’s political momentum.
The politician, who seeks to lead the party’s youth wing at the national level, urged candidates to demonstrate commitment, resilience and a clear understanding of the purpose. He also suggested viewing participation in the internal party elections as an opportunity to serve the NDC and strengthen its grassroots organisation.

Preparation for the 2028 elections
Minta referred to the experience of the Green Army during the 2024 general elections. He said that this youth movement demonstrated the potential of properly organised and motivated young people and helped the NDC and John Dramani Mahama secure victory.
According to the aspirant, the NDC must make the Green Army appealing to young people again and turn it into a stronger and more effective mobilisation tool. In his view, preparations for the next general elections should begin now — in party branches, constituencies and across the country. He assigned a central role in engaging activists and mobilising support to youth organisers.
