Calls in Greece for the resignation of the prime minister’s adviser, who was pranked by Kremlin pranksters – Euractiv
Greek opposition parties are demanding the resignation of Thanos Dokos, the prime minister’s chief national security adviser, who disclosed confidential information to Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus, who are linked to Russian intelligence agencies. The perpetrators used artificial intelligence to impersonate Rustem Umerov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, during a video call.
During the conversation, the official discussed a Ukrainian maritime drone carrying explosives, overseas visits by the head of Greece’s National Intelligence Service, and suggested that the general elections might be moved from 2027 to the coming months.
Dokos himself noted that the incident occurred immediately on the eve of the NATO summit in Ankara, where the topic of Ukraine will dominate the agenda. The opposition Socialist Party (PASOK) called the incident a diplomatic fiasco and called on the adviser to resign for violating the country’s national security procedures, as Dokos had disclosed information about the foreign visits of the head of Greece’s National Intelligence Service.
The Greek government is trying to downplay the incident and is classifying it as a sophisticated hybrid attack. Athens insists that no classified information was disclosed during the conversation, according to Euractiv.

Earlier, Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus published a recording of a video call with Thanos Dokos, the Greek prime minister’s national security adviser, tricking him into believing he was speaking with Ukrainian officials.
As a reminder, Russian pranksters called Merkel, posing as Poroshenko.
The British foreign minister also spoke with a man who resembled Petro Poroshenko.
