Norway has seized a Russian vessel following a lawsuit filed by Naftogaz
The Nur-Trums and Senja District Court in Norway has seized the Russian cruise ship “Professor Molchanov” at the Port of Barentsburg in Svalbard. The measure was taken at the request of the Naftogaz Group as part of the enforcement of an international arbitration award requiring Russia to pay more than $4.22 billion in compensation for illegally seized Crimean assets.
According to the court order, the vessel, which belongs to the Russian Federation, may not leave its current location, and the governor of Svalbard is responsible for ensuring compliance with the ban. The issue of the passengers on board is being resolved by Norwegian authorities, while Naftogaz emphasizes its intention to continue searching for Russian assets around the world until the debt is fully repaid.

Specialists from the “Naftogaz Security” unit and the company “Ukrgazvydobuvannya,” in collaboration with law enforcement, uncovered and shut down a large-scale scheme to steal gas condensate in the Kharkiv region. During the special operation, approximately 1,300 liters of stolen raw material were seized; the theft involved an illegal tap into the pipeline and over 10.6 kilometers of plastic hoses.
Naftogaz executives may be allowed to receive bonuses of up to 36 times their annual base salary. This provision is included in a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers prepared by the Ministry of Economy.
