Protests broke out in Georgia following the arrest of a man who beat tourist Alona Nesteryuk after a dispute at a hotel. During the protest, demonstrators chanted “Putin is a f*cker.”
Alona Nesteryuk traveled to Georgia from Turkey with four friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. One of the tourists had previously posted on social media that she was born in Ukraine but lives in Russia.
A wedding was taking place that day at the hotel where the women were staying. The newlyweds and most of the guests had come from Tbilisi. The exact circumstances surrounding the start of the conflict between the tourists and the wedding guests remain unclear at this time.
The authors of the video claimed that the attack occurred because the female tourists were speaking Russian. At the same time, the wedding guests attribute the conflict to the women’s behavior.
According to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the conflict began after the women insulted the wedding guests from the balcony and splashed water on the sound equipment.
