An activist holding an anti-Putin sign was detained in Kazakhstan during Putin's visit

Opposition activist Marat Zhanuzakov was detained in Kazakhstan during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to the country. According to reports, he posted a photo holding a protest sign with anti-Putin and pro-Ukrainian slogans, including “Glory to Ukraine.” He was subsequently detained.

His daughter, Aiman Zhanuzakova, wrote about this on Wednesday, May 27. Later, Zhanuzakov noted that he had been released and allowed to return home.

“Thank you all for your support. The police asked me to delete the post. I said, ‘I’ll think about it,’” the activist said. The post is still on his Facebook page.

In the published photo, he was standing with the flags of Kazakhstan and Ukraine and holding a sign that read: “Hey, scum! Get the hell out of Kazakhstan! Glory to Ukraine!”
