Xihu Longjing tea tasting opened in Hangzhou — ECNS
According to ECNS, an event dedicated to tasting Xihu Longjing tea, also known as West Lake Longjing, opened in Hangzhou, China, on September 17. It brought together ten tea villages from the tea’s core production area, located within the West Lake scenic area.
Five historical areas
The event is dedicated to the five historical Xihu Longjing production areas: Shifeng, Longjing, Yunqi, Hupao and Meijiawu. Tea masters from ten villages are demonstrating traditional tea-making techniques. Visitors can taste tea from each village and try new options, including cold-brewed Longjing.

Interactive and cultural program
An interactive area has been organized for younger visitors, featuring a Longjing quiz, the application of logos representing the core production area, and the making of canvas bags. Participants can also receive themed bookmarks, maps and limited tea samples.
The cultural exhibition area explains the differences in the taste of tea from the five areas. Tea samples, soil samples and traditional tea-making tools are used for this purpose. The exhibition covers tea varieties, leaf-picking standards, hand roasting, storage and brewing methods. Folk music and Chinese song performances are also held at the venue. The event will continue until Sunday.
