China has denied reports of correspondence between Xi Jinping and Trump regarding Iran
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it has no information regarding a possible exchange of letters between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump concerning arms supplies to Iran.
This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Gao Jiaqun during a briefing.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Gao Jiaqun stated that Beijing cannot confirm such reports.
“China has repeatedly stated its firm position on the situation in Iran. However, regarding the specific issue you mentioned, I have no information to provide,” he said.
At the same time, the Chinese Foreign Ministry noted that China and the U.S. maintain working-level contacts, particularly in preparation for potential bilateral visits. No specific details regarding the U.S. president’s trip to China were disclosed.
Trump has previously made repeated statements about contacts with Xi Jinping, but some of these statements from the U.S. side have not been confirmed by official Beijing.
As a reminder, China responded to reports of alleged military support for Iran and stated that such accusations are baseless. Beijing also warned the United States of possible countermeasures in the event of further pressure.
Earlier reports indicated that Iran likely used a Chinese reconnaissance satellite to monitor U.S. military bases in the Middle East even before the missile and drone attacks on those facilities.
Iran and the U.S. have not yet agreed on a new round of talks, although both sides continue to exchange messages through intermediaries. At the same time, various options for the location of a potential meeting are being considered, but no final decision has been made.
Additionally, China has criticized the U.S. for the naval blockade of Iranian ports. Beijing believes that such actions only escalate the situation and could derail the ceasefire. The statement came after the collapse of negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
