Authorities seek to seize more than $68 million in assets from Shoigu's former deputy

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office is seeking a court order to seize assets worth approximately 5.5 billion rubles (over $68 million) from former Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Tsalikov and his relatives.

This was reported by Kommersant.

According to the Russian prosecutor’s office, the assets were acquired through corruption. The assets in question include real estate, land plots, cash, and other property in the Moscow region, Moscow, and North Ossetia.

In particular, approximately 3 billion rubles (over $37 million) were allegedly held in the accounts of “Sandora,” a contractor for the Russian Ministry of Defense that is implicated in the criminal case.

Investigators believe that Tsalikov, while serving as Deputy Minister of Defense, used his official position for personal enrichment and registered assets in the names of relatives.

Among the assets they want to confiscate are luxury real estate, a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, as well as cash and bank accounts belonging to family members. Tsalikov denies any wrongdoing.

Russia is seeing a trend toward staff reductions across various sectors, including IT, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, retail, consulting, and other business services.

The Russian Ministry of Finance forecasts a sharp increase in regional budget deficits to $21 billion.
