In the Krasnoyarsk Krai of the Russian Federation, a seventh-grader stabbed her teacher with a knife
At School No. 2 in Kansk, Russia, a student attacked teachers and students during a holiday assembly. According to preliminary reports, the seventh-grader sprayed pepper spray and then attempted to attack a teacher with a knife.
Initially, the regional Ministry of Health reported seven victims, including five children. All received the necessary medical care and were then released for outpatient observation.
However, a source later told “112” that there were nine victims. Among them were the deputy principal, a homeroom teacher, a maintenance worker, a chemistry teacher, and five students.
According to preliminary information, the victims suffered stab wounds, facial injuries, and chemical burns to the eyes. Their lives are not in danger.
According to the “Interregional Center for Children’s Rights” in the Krasnoyarsk Krai, the attacker was a seventh-grade student.
When the student tried to use the knife against the teacher, one of the parents intervened and pushed the girl out of the classroom.
Eyewitnesses also reported that, once in the hallway, the student set fire to a bottle containing a flammable mixture.
Investigators are working at the scene. The holiday assembly was canceled.
According to a source at “112,” the seventh-grader stated that she had a strained relationship with other students and some of the teachers.
Her phone reportedly contained a subscription to a Telegram channel with radical content.
The student had not previously been on a preventive monitoring list. The issue of her possible admission to a psychiatric hospital is currently being decided.
According to Mash, the school had previously been found to have shortcomings in safety measures and the organization of psychological and educational support.
In the spring, the school received a formal warning. Over the course of a year, the number of students classified as “high-risk” rose from seven to 17.
At the same time, the inspection revealed that the measures taken were insufficient.
Since the beginning of 2026, this is at least the third attack at educational institutions in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
For example, on February 3, at School No. 4, a seventh-grader attempted to stab a teacher with a knife and subsequently injured a classmate.
The next day, at School No. 153, an eighth-grader doused a classmate with gasoline and set him on fire.
According to calculations by *Novaya Gazeta Europe*, from September 2025 through the end of May 2026, there were at least 25 incidents of attacks or threats involving weapons in schools, colleges, technical schools, and universities.
According to the publication, this is the highest figure in at least the last seven years.
As a result of these incidents, four people were killed and another 38 were injured.
The number of attacks rose particularly sharply in the winter of 2026: three cases were recorded in December, three more in January, and seven in February.
On average, there were about three armed attacks at educational institutions each month in early 2026.
Local media and Russian law enforcement sources reported on the incident.
Earlier, a knife attack occurred near the entrance to the Acropolis archaeological complex in Athens. Two tourists were injured in the incident.
