The Kursk Region plans to create tourist routes through battle sites
In the Kursk region, there are plans to create tourist routes that will take visitors to battle sites and locations where Russian troops are stationed. Specifically, these include underground structures and defense facilities that officials hope to use for future tourist routes and museum spaces.
According to the region’s governor, Alexander Khinshtein, local authorities are working on this issue together with the Russian military. Among other things, tourists will be shown sites where North Korean troops were stationed, as well as underground command posts from which troops were directed.
According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, 640 civilians were killed as a result of hostilities in the Kursk Region in 2024–2025, and the damage caused exceeded 0.5 trillion rubles. According to the operational headquarters, the region continues to come under attack on an almost daily basis.
In late 2025, the launch of “military tourism” was also announced in the occupied part of the Donetsk region. There, they planned to create itineraries through “sites of military glory” associated with the war in Donbas and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
