In Lagos, APC expels two politicians after APM nomination — Premium Times Nigeria
The Lagos, Nigeria chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced the expulsion of two former aspirants for seats in the State House of Assembly — Ganiyu Egunjobi and Aziz Yusuf. The party said they had demonstrated disloyalty and engaged in anti-party activities after receiving nominations from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 elections, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
Dispute over the primaries
Egunjobi, a former chairman of the Agege Local Government Area, contested the APC primaries in the Agege I constituency. Yusuf, also known as Ninolowo, sought the nomination in the Agege II constituency. Both politicians challenged the results of the party’s internal selection.
Egunjobi publicly refused to accept the results announced by the party in the first constituency. He claimed that vote counting at polling units showed that he had won. APC ultimately nominated Gbenga Abiola in the Agege I constituency and Sakiru Enimakure in the Agege II constituency.

In September, Egunjobi and Yusuf received APM nominations in their respective constituencies. In the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly elections, Egunjobi is to compete against Abiola, while Yusuf is to face Enimakure. The politicians explained their move to APM by their experience of participating in the APC primaries and denied reports that their change of party was linked to Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
APC’s position
APC said that members who failed to secure nomination in the party’s internal elections were expected either to accept the outcome or use appeal procedures provided by the party’s constitution and the law. Instead, APC said, both politicians obtained nominations from another political force within the same electoral cycle.
The party considers such actions a violation of the duties of its members and anti-party activity. To expel Egunjobi and Yusuf, APC cited Article 9(5)(II) of its 2022 amended constitution. The party also said it does not recognize their claims of resignation, because, in its view, they were submitted after they had obtained alternative political platforms.
