There has been a surge in fraudulent emails purporting to be from Swedbank in Latvia
On August 17, Swedbank customers in Latvia once again received emails from scammers posing as the bank. The messages urge recipients to update their banking information, according to LSM English, citing a statement from Swedbank.
Swedbank emphasized that it did not send such emails. If you enter your information via the link in the message, it could fall into the hands of scammers. Customers who have already disclosed their information were advised to immediately contact the bank’s customer service center at 67444444.

The bank noted that it contacts customers regarding data updates via online banking. Users are advised not to click on links in emails but to log in to online banking themselves, complete the authentication process, and update their information there.
One of the telltale signs of this scam email is the sender’s address: [email protected]. In recent weeks, cybercriminals have also been creating fake websites for the Latvian Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD). According to LSM, the CSDD recently suffered a cyberattack during which fraudsters may have gained access to historical payment data. Citizens are advised to carefully verify any requests purporting to come from the CSDD.
