Police in Latvia separate a badger and a hedgehog in an apartment building entrance — LSM English
In the Latvian town of Aizpute, municipal police responded to a call at a residential building where residents were disturbed at night by a confrontation between a badger and a hedgehog. The animals ended up in the entrance of a building at 5 Raiņa Boulevard.
Night-time call
As LSM English reports, the call to the South Kurzeme Municipality Police was received at about 2:25 a.m. on the night of September 26. Initially, the callers reported that two badgers had entered the building. However, officers who arrived at the scene saw a badger and a hedgehog on the first floor.
It turned out that the animals were fighting, and the noise from the confrontation was loud enough to wake residents of the apartment building.

The animals were led outside
Ieva Ilstere, head of the South Kurzeme Municipality Police, noted that during her work she had not previously encountered such an unusual reason for a complaint about night-time noise. According to her, reports about loud sounds are received frequently, but this was the first time that wild animals had been the cause.
The badger ran away as soon as it saw the police officers. The hedgehog was also led out of the building, after which both animals returned outside.
