Latvia has issued a warning about fraudulent text messages regarding the national e-address
On August 20, the Latvian State Agency for Digital Development (VDAA) issued a warning about the spread of fraudulent SMS messages. These messages claim that the user has allegedly received a new message via their government e-mail address.
The VDAA emphasized that the agency does not send SMS notifications about new messages received via the e-address. Recipients of such text messages are advised not to click on any links they contain.

To verify whether a new message has actually been received, the agency recommends logging in to the government portal Latvija.gov.lv yourself and checking your e-mail address. This method allows you to check for messages without using the link from the SMS.
According to the VDAA, official notifications about new messages are sent via email from [email protected]. LSM English reported on this new wave of fraudulent messages.
