An explosion occurred in Monaco, injuring a Ukrainian family

On the evening of June 29, a powerful explosion rocked a residential building in Monaco. According to Le Figaro, members of a Ukrainian family were injured in the incident.

According to Le Figaro’s sources in the police, three members of a single Ukrainian family were injured in the incident. The parents, one of whom is believed to be a Ukrainian oligarch, are currently in critical condition, while their minor child is in serious but stable condition. The government of Monaco has officially stated that the tragedy was apparently caused by a “malicious act.”

Security cameras captured an unidentified man leaving a backpack at the entrance to the building and fleeing on foot toward the neighboring French town of Bosoley; the explosion occurred just as people were entering the building. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating whether this family was the attacker’s direct target.

Monaco’s prosecutor, Thibault Stéphane, confirmed the condition of the victims to reporters and stated that bomb disposal experts and judicial police officers are actively working at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the crime. Eric Chotti, mayor of the neighboring French city of Nice, responded to the incident, which has already been described as a terrorist attack and a tragedy. The official expressed his deepest condolences to the victims, their relatives, and the entire people of Monaco, and also declared his full support for the mobilized security forces and emergency services involved in dealing with the aftermath of the attack and searching for the suspect, who remains at large.

It is likely that an assassination attempt was made in Monaco on oligarch Vadym Yermolayev. At this time, there has been no official confirmation of this information from the Monegasque authorities.

Vadym Yermolayev was on the list of Ukraine’s 100 richest people. The businessman stated that he renounced his Ukrainian citizenship in 2017 and holds only a Cypriot passport. In December 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy enacted a decision by the National Security and Defense Council to impose personal sanctions against him for a period of 10 years.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Yermolayev, through front men, re-registered his alcohol business in the temporarily occupied Crimea under Russian law and for many years paid significant taxes to the budget of the aggressor state.

Yusov later commented on the attempted assassination and the activities of the Russian special services.

The Russian public needs to be informed about the real state of affairs in the Russian Federation. This was stated by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, who emphasized the importance of information operations.
