Former head of Rosaviatsiya arrested in Moscow
On July 3, the Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow arrested Alexander Neradko, the former head of Rosaviatsiya. According to court documents, he is charged with fraud committed by an organized group on an especially large scale.
Russian law enforcement agencies have not officially disclosed the specific details of the charges against Neradko.
Two days earlier, according to Russian Telegram channels, Neradko’s former deputy, Konstantin Makhov, was detained. After leaving Rosaviatsiya, he headed companies linked to Russian oligarch Arkady Rotenberg.
According to the specialized Telegram channel “Aviatorshchina,” the criminal cases against Neradko and Makhov may be linked to the possible embezzlement of approximately 800 million rubles during the construction of a new runway at Domodedovo Airport, which began in 2014. At that time, Makhov was responsible for the development of airport infrastructure.
Alexander Neradko headed Rosaviatsia from 2009 to 2023. During his tenure, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Transport repeatedly raised questions about his suitability for the position. After his dismissal, he became an advisor to the CEO of the State Transport Leasing Company.
In recent years, several former high-ranking Rosaviatsia officials have also been detained in Russia on suspicion of bribery, abuse of office, and other corruption-related crimes.
