A top Gazprom executive was arrested in Moscow on bribery charges involving $630,000

In Moscow, FSB agents detained Igor Moiseenko, the deputy general director for corporate security at Gazprom Energoholding. He is suspected of accepting a bribe of approximately $630,000.

According to investigators, the official is charged with accepting a bribe on an especially large scale. If convicted, he faces 8 to 15 years in prison.

This is not the first corruption case involving executives of Gazprom subsidiaries. In the spring of 2026, Russian authorities reported an investigation into the embezzlement of over $100 million during the construction of Alina Kabaeva’s Rhythmic Gymnastics Center.

An investigation is also underway into the deputy chairman of Gazpromneft, who is suspected of accepting bribes totaling approximately $380,000.

As part of the 21st sanctions package, the Council of the European Union decided to suspend the automatic adjustment of the price cap mechanism on Russian oil until July 15, 2027. 

Earlier, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for tougher sanctions following Russia’s attack on a tanker near Romania.
