The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed to Budanov its pain and outrage over the "Heroes of the UPA" unit
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki met with Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, during which the parties discussed the controversy surrounding the naming of one of the Special Operations Forces units “Heroes of the UPA.”
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that this issue was the main topic of the talks, which took place at the request of the Ukrainian side.
According to Bosacki, the Ukrainian government’s decision caused “pain and outrage” among the Polish public, which has supported Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale aggression.
Warsaw emphasized that relations between the two countries must be based on historical truth, respect for the victims, and open dialogue.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the situation on the front lines, the course of hostilities, and possible diplomatic scenarios for resolving the war.
