In Nepal, 40 insured Israeli tourists are receiving assistance after heavy rains, flood threats and bad weather disrupted trekking routes in the Himalayas. This was reported by the Jerusalem Post, citing the situation center of the PassportCard insurance company.

Tourists in several mountain regions

According to PassportCard, 17 travelers are in the Annapurna region, and another 17 are in the Manaslu region, including in Samagaun. Four tourists are in the Tsum Valley near Chumling, while two are in the Everest region.

Four insured tourists require medical assistance. They are planned to be evacuated for treatment as soon as weather conditions allow. The company said that, according to available information, none of these people is in a life-threatening condition. Their families maintain regular contact with the situation center.

Restrictions on movement

Local authorities overnight warned of flood risks and urged tourists in popular locations and along trekking routes to move to safer places. Nepalese meteorological services also warned travelers against hiking on high-altitude routes due to the threat of floods, landslides, rockfalls, and damage to trails and bridges.

Travel across a significant part of Nepal is severely restricted due to road closures, and trekking in affected areas has been suspended. PassportCard teams are working simultaneously in several locations and assessing the situation in light of the weather and the ability to travel. According to the company's forecast, the bad weather will gradually weaken, but restoring normal transport links in the affected areas may take several days.
