Two workers rescued from tunnel in Nepal after devastating floods
In Nepal, rescuers pulled two workers from the Trishuli 3A hydropower facility alive from a tunnel that had been buried by debris after devastating floods. According to The Hindu International, the operation took place on September 4 in the Rasuwa district — nine days after the August 26 flood.

Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha reported the rescue of one person from the Trishuli 3A tunnel and later confirmed that rescuers had extracted a second worker. Nepal Army spokesperson Brigadier General Raja Ram Basnet said the operation at the facility was continuing.
According to Nepali officials, the floods may have been caused by a glacier collapse. The disaster destroyed settlements and valleys in Nepal.

Victims and missing people
The death toll from the floods has risen to 1,282 people. According to Nepal Police, 359 bodies were found in Chitwan, 218 in East Nawalparasi, 208 in West Nawalparasi, 185 in Nuwakot, 140 in Rasuwa, 72 in Gorkha, 60 in Dhading and 38 in Tanahu. Another two people died while receiving treatment at two hospitals in Kathmandu.
The joint security forces command is searching for 4,798 missing people. About 600 children have still not been found in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
