A suspect in the plot to assassinate a princess has been arrested in the Netherlands

A man suspected of plotting an assassination attempt against members of the royal family has been arrested in the Netherlands. The targets were Princesses Amalia and Alexia. Law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances of the case and the suspect’s possible motives.

This was reported by the NL Times.

According to the Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office, the 33-year-old suspect is currently in custody. The first preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Monday, May 4.

According to law enforcement, the suspect was arrested in The Hague in early February. Two axes were found in his possession. The name "Alexia" was engraved on one of the axes, along with the words "Mossad" and "Sieg Heil."

A handwritten document was also found on the man, containing, among other things, the names Amalia and Alexia, as well as the word "Bloedbad," which translates to "massacre."

Prosecutors believe these findings point to a possible plan to attack two of the three daughters of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

Authorities have not disclosed any information about the man’s possible motive.

This is not the first time Crown Princess Amalia has faced threats. In particular, in 2022, due to serious threats, Princess Amalia was forced to leave her student dormitory in Amsterdam and return to the palace under heightened security.

It later emerged that, due to the threats, she lived and studied in Madrid for a year. Thanks to heightened security measures, she was able to return home and resume living and studying in the Netherlands.
