An airport in Germany was closed due to an unidentified UAV
On the night of August 10–11, operations at Hannover-Langenhagen Airport were temporarily restricted due to an unidentified drone that police spent about two hours trying to track down.
Due to the drone’s presence, the runway and airspace were closed several times. One cargo plane was rerouted, and several flights were delayed.
Police have not ruled out the possibility that the incident could be a form of hybrid activity, given that it involved a critical infrastructure site. However, no connection has yet been established with the recent drone incident in Leipzig.
Law enforcement officials were particularly struck by the fact that the Federal Police’s drone detection system did not detect the aircraft. Because of this, they suspect that the drone may not have been one of the common commercial models.

An FPV drone carrying explosives crashed into the wing of a Ukrainian An-124 “Ruslan” cargo plane at Leipzig/Halle Airport. According to Die Zeit, the drone struck the area where the fuel tanks are located, and it contained Semtex plastic explosives. The explosives did not detonate, but new details are leading German journalists to speculate about a possible targeted attack.
U.S. intelligence believes that Russia—an aggressor state—may be involved in the incident involving a drone equipped with explosives at Leipzig/Halle Airport. This was reported by The Guardian, citing U.S. officials. German authorities have not yet publicly identified those responsible for the incident.
