Shanghai vice mayor visits Seoul for cooperation talks — Korea Herald
In Seoul, South Korea, Acting Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Jeong Sang-hun met with Shanghai Vice Mayor Lu Shan. The officials discussed expanding cooperation between the cities in business, tourism and the night-time economy. This was the first high-level meeting between the city administrations of Seoul and Shanghai since the COVID-19 pandemic, Korea Herald reports.
Interest in the night-time economy
During talks at Seoul City Hall, Jeong Sang-hun specifically asked about Shanghai's experience in revitalizing commercial districts and stimulating economic activity in the evening and at night.
Seoul is also developing this area. The city recently unveiled the “Seoul — City of a Vibrant 24-Hour Economy” initiative, which provides for expanding night tourism, cultural programs and commercial activity.

Areas of cooperation
Jeong said that Seoul and Shanghai had developed mutual understanding and friendship over many years through exchanges in various fields. According to him, the cities intend to expand interaction in the economy and industry, as well as in culture, tourism and youth exchanges, so that entrepreneurs and residents of both cities can have more frequent contact.
Seoul and Shanghai established friendship-city relations in 2014. Since then, they have cooperated in urban administration, transport, art, tourism and talent development.
