Germany Plans to Invest Billions in Counter-Drone Measures — DW

Germany plans to make large-scale financial investments in the Bundeswehr to develop and modernize unmanned technologies.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced plans to invest significant funds in a drone countermeasures system and the procurement of new drones.

This decision is part of the country’s new defense strategy in light of current security challenges.

The large-scale army modernization program is designed for the long term and envisages a complete transformation of the armed forces. Starting in July of this year, all branches of the German armed forces will have their own specialized drone units.

The ministry’s leadership aims to equip the military with the most advanced technologies to ensure effective mission execution.

The German government has developed a clear roadmap for achieving its goals in the field of military technology. The relevant ministry is coordinating extensive efforts to rapidly implement the planned changes.

Official Berlin seeks to significantly strengthen its defense capabilities amid the changing security situation in Europe.

Boris Pistorius outlined the defense ministry’s plans in detail during a conversation with journalists: “In the coming days, we will launch an action plan regarding drones.”

The head of the German ministry noted that this document covers a whole range of important comprehensive measures that will now be actively implemented.

Funding for the project will cover all of the military’s key needs in the field of unmanned aviation and protection against airborne threats. This involves the procurement of various types of equipment, including reconnaissance, combat, and defense systems.

The country plans to close all potential vulnerabilities in its airspace using the latest technologies.

The German defense minister revealed the financial details of this large-scale rearmament: “This means that by the end of the decade, we plan to invest approximately 16 billion euros in this area. We are procuring drones for reconnaissance, drones for combat missions, and drones capable of repelling attacks—in other words, the entire spectrum.”

This was reported by DW.

Germany is converting its largest port for military logistics

For decades, North Korea has played a key role in the development of Iran’s missile program, supplying not only weapons but also technology and engineering solutions. According to experts, it was this cooperation that allowed Tehran to transition from simple copies of Soviet missiles to modern long-range systems. Over time, this collaboration evolved into a large-scale military-technological network.
