In Germany, a freight train fell off a bridge; one person was injured
Overnight in Munich, a freight train derailed right on an overpass, causing two cars to fall from a height onto the highway. One person sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. The area around the accident is currently closed off, and rescue operations could last up to several days.
A nighttime train accident occurred in Munich, Germany, which literally brought traffic to a standstill in the area of the overpass, as a freight train derailed right on the bridge, and some of the cars fell onto the road below, creating a dangerous situation for people and vehicles. At least one person was injured and hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to dpa, the incident occurred on the night of June 20, when a freight train was traveling over a railway overpass and derailed for unknown reasons. Two cars broke through the guardrails and fell from a height of approximately five meters directly onto the roadway beneath the bridge, immediately leading to a large-scale road closure in the area.
Deutsche Bahn clarified that this section of track is used exclusively for freight transport, so passenger service was not affected and long-distance train service was not disrupted. The police also emphasized that there were no hazardous materials on the train, so there is no threat to the public following the accident.
Emergency services are working at the scene, clearing the area and assessing the condition of the bridge structures and the railcars that remained on the tracks or fell to the ground. The road under the overpass is completely closed, and the resumption of traffic may be delayed until at least the weekend, until experts complete all safety work and the removal of the damaged train cars. This was reported by dpa.
The German Ministry of Defense is expressing interest in purchasing low-cost, long-range cruise missiles from defense companies in Ukraine and Israel. This move became an urgent necessity for Berlin after U.S. President Donald Trump reversed the Biden administration’s previous decision to deploy a U.S. unit equipped with Tomahawk missiles on German territory.
