Members of a Hamas network have been convicted in Germany for weapons possession

On March 25 in Berlin, four men were sentenced to prison for their involvement in a network that stockpiled weapons for potential terrorist attacks in Europe under the direction of the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

EuroNews reports this.

The court found the men, aged 36 to 58, guilty of membership in a foreign terrorist organization and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from four to six years.

According to prosecutors, the weapons were intended for attacks on targets such as the Israeli embassy in Berlin and the U.S. military base Ramstein in western Germany.

They were partially identified as Abdelhamid Al-A. and Ibrahim El-R., both born in Lebanon; Egyptian citizen Mohammed B.; and Dutch citizen Nazih R.

As noted, these men were arrested in December 2023. Nazih R. was detained in Rotterdam, and the other three in Berlin.

Prosecutors allege that Ibrahim El-R., who ran a restaurant in Berlin, traveled to Bulgaria in 2019 to bury a crate full of weapons there, they said.

In 2019, he also brought weapons to Germany from another warehouse in Denmark.

Consequently, 43-year-old Ibrahim El R. was found guilty of illegal possession of weapons and membership in a foreign terrorist organization. He received the longest prison sentence—six years.

According to prosecutors, the men also tried to retrieve weapons from a location in Poland but were unable to find them despite several attempts.
